Naturopathy is a distinct and complete medical system that is collectively a philosophy, science, art and series of techniques that together support the inherent power of the body to heal itself. The philosophical origins of naturopathy date back to approximately 400B.C., when Hippocrates became famous for his treatment of disease in accordance with what he perceived as natural laws.

Treatments can include, herbal medicine and nutrition and lifestyle coaching supported by evidence-based research and testing.

Body Talk™

1 HOUR $100

The BodyTalk System seeks to address the "whole person". This means that no aspect of the human psyche can be overlooked, be it emotional, physical or environmental. In BodyTalk, we have developed a whole-healthcare system that supports and promotes the wellbeing of any person, animal, or plant.

As WholeHealthcare™, BodyTalk understands the profound influence the psychology of the body has on our health. Instead of focusing on the symptom, BodyTalk finds the underlying causes of illness by addressing the whole-person and their whole-story.

The BodyTalk techniques provide insights to the areas of your body that need attention. What might seem like an obvious problem to you is not necessarily the one your body wants to address first.

This is the beauty of BodyTalk. It respects the body's own needs and determines your body's priorities for healing. Then with the use of a variety of non-invasive techniques, BodyTalkers refocus your body's natural healing response to establish better communication within the body.

Massage Therapy

Massage is the systematic and scientific manipulation of the soft tissues of the body for therapeutic purposes. As both a healing art and a science it can benefit every body. It has a broad range of applications and can assist in the treatment of common ailments such as tension headaches, stress, arthritis, lower back pain, sciatica and insomnia.

What Can I Expect in a Massage Therapy Session?

You and your practitioner begin your session by discussing your health status and whatever other issues you wish to address. Depending on your preferences and the treatment plan recommended by your practitioner, a number of different styles of massage techniques (or combinations thereof) may be used.

These include:

  • Swedish or Relaxation Massage is a generalised form of treatment used to promote wellbeing, remove muscular tension and reduce stress.

  • Remedial or Therapeutic Massage uses corrective techniques for rehabilitation, pain relief, improved muscle function and mobility.

  • Sports Massage is used for injury prevention, pre and post sports event preparation and recovery, flexibility, endurance and increased performance.

  • Specialty Massage includes Aromatherapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Trigger Point Therapy. Each has their own treatment methodology and clinical indications.

  • Sessions can run for 1, 1.5 and 2 hours depending on your preference and available time.

Reflexology is a science based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all glands, organs, parts and systems of the body. The physical act of applying pressure using thumb, finger and hand techniques to these reflex areas results in the reduction of stress which promotes physiological changes in the body.
Of all the modalities taught in remedial massage courses, reflexology is one of the most effective ways for your therapist to influence a particular region or organ of the body.

What Can I Expect in a Reflexology Treatment?

Your therapist will start with a case history and during the course of this history note down particular areas that are likely to need extra attention during your session.
Each reflexology treatment starts with a luxurious foot bath with aromatherapy oils to relax and soften your feet.

Typically, the whole foot is treated (about 20 minutes each) with particularly painful areas or areas detected by sensations fed back to your therapist receiving extra attention. This is then followed with a soothing foot massage to round out the session.

Developed and popularised in Japan by Mikao Usui in the early 1900’s, Reiki is a healing system that makes use of the human life force energy to effect healing. The term “Reiki” is a composite of two Japanese words, “Rei” (translates to: God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power) and “Ki” (translates to: “life force energy”).

In other words, Reki is a system of energy healing/re-balancing that uses the animating force that sustains all living things to effect healing. It is based on the premise that all ailments in the human body are the result of our bodies having deviated in some way from an ideal level of energy. Perhaps one of the best everyday analogies to this is the difference between a radio that has a perfect signal to the radio station that sounds pristine as opposed to one that doesn’t have a clear signal and sounds terrible - so too with the body.

What Can I Expect in a Reiki Session?

A Reiki session generally begins with the client lying comfortably on a massage table and the practitioner bringing their hands together and mentally reciting an affirmation that effectively pushes the ego out the way for the entire session so the client is at the centre of the therapists intent. At this point the therapist will use a variety of symbols given during their training to intensify the energy moving through the hands to the part of the body being treated.
